For the love of Mud
Another busy weekend in the world of cyclocross kicked off early with several races on Friday. Felipe Orts Lloret got things off to a great start with a win in Spain at Les Franqueses. Luke Verburg took a top 10 in his first season racing against the elites. In the women’s race Joyce Vanderbeken finished with another podium place in 2nd place.
The big race of the day was Koppenberg Cross in Belgium as the DVV series kicked off for the season. Ryan Kamp finished 2nd in the u23 race, and Eva Lechner pushed the 777 team right to the finish and ended up 4th. Blanka Vas impressed with a top 10 at only 18 years old. Tom Pidcock put on a great show in the men’s race, pushing all the way to the line to take an impressive 2nd
place.
It was Limus day in Koppenberg Cross: heavy mud, rainy day and technical discent makes the fun for Challenge rider's on it.

On Saturday, Felipe Orts Lloret took another win at home in Spain, in the C2 event in Manlleu. Yannick Peeters finished 5th, and Joyce Vanderbeken again took the silver medal in the women’s race.
Tobin Ortenblad showed his continued return to form with 2nd place on day 1 of the Really Rad Festival of Cross. He backed this up with a 3rd place on Sunday as he continues to build towards the early National Championships in USA.
Saturday was also the Canadian National Championships, held in Peterborough, Ontario. Maghalie Rochette took third women’s championships with another strong ride. Siobhan Kelly finished 4th. Gunnar Holmgren powered to another u23 title and Derrick St John finished 5th in elite men’s race.
Tom Pidcock finished a good weekend with 6th in Ruddervoorde, after Jente Michels won in the junior race. Thibau Nys took another podium with 3rd. Katherine Compton was 3rd in the women’s race.
Felipe Orts made it a hat trick of victories with another win in Spain, with Joyce again taking 2nd in the women’s race. Gosse van der Meer took the long trip to Romania to race in Micasasa and went home with 3rd place.
